73. The Political Economy of Africa and the Caribbean
Title: The Political Economy of Africa and the Caribbean
Date: 23 August 2023
Time: 17:00-19:00 (SAST)
Overview: The University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Institute of Global African Affairs (IGAA) hosted by the Institute for PanAfrican Thought and Conversation (IPATC) in South Africa, in collaboration with the Institute of International Relations (IIR) at the University of The West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and Tobago, wish to organise a webinar series that will unpack Africa and the Caribbeans’ quest for new directions, new innovations, and bold strategies for their future development. While the calls for a convergence of ideas and strategies have been considered, institutional incapacity and non-commitment of actors on both ends have limited this possibility. Indeed, any developmental initiatives seem to be linked with the checkered history of both regions.
