On Friday 30 June 2017, the 57th anniversary of the DRC’s independence, IPATC staged a showing of the acclaimed film ‘Lumumba’, followed by a discussion. Patrice Lumumba was the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and a fierce Pan-African, who was martyred in 1961. This documentary by the Haitian-American director Raoul Peck depicts Lumumba’s life and times.
