Reaching for the Final Frontier: The African Space Sector
Event type: Webinar
Theme: Reaching for the Final Frontier: The African Space Sector
Description: The webinar will speak to the importance and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in relation to the African space sector. Speakers will present on big data and space, showing the space technologies are for everyone including Africa. The command of emerging and future technologies has become a critical element of human development. Space science and space technologies are potential solutions to global issues such as climate change, food insecurity, financial exclusion, and pandemic management. Modern space technology already offers many applications, including environmental surveillance to communications.
It is important to have these discussions, for scholars and policymakers, because the African space sector is rapidly becoming an area that is not only subject to new geopolitical battles between US and China, but its also an area that if we (Africans) leverage it properly, we can use it to meet our collective developmental goals including the SDGs. Hope that you enjoy!
