Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: A Historical Perspective
The University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation, in collaboration with the Wits African Centre for the Study of the United States (ACSUS), and the UJ Library held a documentary screening and discussion on “Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.: 50 Years Later”. Written and directed by Thomas Friedman, “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: A Historical Perspective” offers a one-of-a-kind examination of Dr. King’s extraordinary life. Using rare and largely unseen footage and photographs, Friedman explores how Dr. King’s ideas, beliefs and methods evolved in the face of the rapidly changing climate of the Civil Rights Movement. The event was attended by 54 guests.
